A to Z Formula

What is the equation for photon energy?

The energy carried by a single photon with a certain electromagnetic wavelength and frequency is the photon energy. The higher the photon’s frequency higher its energy, and longer the photon’s wavelength, the lower its energy. Photon energy is directly proportional to its photon frequency and inversely proportional to its photon’s wavelength.

The equation for photon energy is given as,

E = hc / λ

E = the photon energy

h = the Planck constant

c = the speed of light in vacuum

λ = the photon’s wavelength.

The photon energy changes with direct relation to wavelength ‘λ’ as h and c are both constants.
