What is Dimensional Formula of Angular Momentum?

Posted in Dimensional Formulae | Email This Post Email This Post |

Angular Momentum is a product of Moment of Inertia and Angular Velocity. Its formula is
Angular Momentum = Moment of Inertia X Angular Velocity

Dimensional Formula of Moment of Inertia= M1L2T0
Dimensional Formula of Angular velocity = M0L0T-1

Putting these values in above equation we get

So Dimensional Formula of Angular Momentum = M1L2T-1
SI unit of Angular Momentum is Kg m2 s-1

    limitation of dimensional analysis

    Limitations
1.It gives no information about the dimensionless constant involved in the equation.
2.It is not applicable to equations involving trigonometric and exponential functions.
3.It can’t be employed to derive the exact form of relationship ,if it contains sum of two or more terms.
4.It fails if the given physical quantity depends on more than three unknown quantities.
